Internet Access for Students
Your Internet access is based on what type of student you are.
Undergraduate Students = Undergraduate Plan
- All Undergraduate students are on this plan by default.
- Unlimited high speed access to all University websites (Cecil, EC Mail, Student Services Online etc) and electronic resources provided by the Library.
- High speed access to all non-University websites, with a 200MB monthly data allowance.
- It's all done for you automatically, no need to sign up, pay up, or set up!
- Option to purchase additional data if you exceed your monthly data allowance, 100MB for $2.
Postgraduate Students = Postgraduate Plan
- All Postgraduate students are on this plan by default.
- Unlimited high speed access to all University websites (Cecil, EC Mail, Student Services Online etc) and electronic resources provided by the Library.
- High speed access to all non-University websites, with a 400MB monthly data allowance.
- It's all done for you automatically, no need to sign up, pay up, or set up!
- Option to purchase additional data if you exceed your monthly data allowance, 100MB for $2.
- Doctoral students are automatically placed on the Staff Plan.
Wireless
When students and staff connect a laptop to the University's wireless network you can use the default connection or you can change your settings to use the high speed access and data allowance that comes with your Internet plan. Instructions for this setup are available from www.auckland.ac.nz/wireless
Additional Data
The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Plans have a monthly data allowance for non-University websites. If you exceed your data allowance before the end of the month you can purchase additional data:
- sold in 100 MB bundles and costs $2.00 per bundle (including GST).
- can be used within the year it was purchased.
- is non-refundable.
- can be purchased from the Internet purchase site; your copy balance will be debited for this purchase.
If you choose not to purchase additional data, browsing non-University websites will be at a slower speed for the rest of the month. Browsing University websites will still be at high speed.
